Alan Astrow, MD is the chief of hematology and medical oncology at NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, a professor of clinical medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine, and Superdoctor. Nationally recognized and board certified in medical oncology, hematology and internal medicine, Dr. Astrow specializes in treating breast and gynecological cancers and in utilizing individualized therapies and targeted treatments for the medical management of cancer. He has a particular interest in improving physician-patient communication, supporting patients throughout their treatment, and addressing human concerns as they relate to cancer care and survivorship. A leader in the field of hematology and oncology, Dr. Astrow has been practicing for more than 30 years and has been named a Top Doctor by Castle Connolly, New York magazine, Newsweek, and Schneps Communications for his excellence providing in cancer care. He has authored many research publications and peer review journals for the Journal of Clinical Oncology, The Lancet, the New England Journal of Medicine, and the Journal of the American Medical Association. He is a member of the New York Gynecologic Oncology Group and serves on the advisory committees for the Journal of Clinical Oncology and the New York Metropolitan Breast Group. Dr. Astrow received his undergraduate and medical degree from Yale University and served his residency training in internal medicine at Boston City Hospital. He completed his fellowship in hematology and medical oncology at New York University Medical Center and previously served on clinical faculty at St. Vincent's Hospital and Maimonides Medical Center at Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
