Dr. Burgess has practiced internal medicine for 30 years in downtown Denver. Hailing from Chicago, his first encounter with Colorado was attending the Young Life summer camp near Mt. Princeton while in high school. That settled his college selection process on the University of Colorado, where he majored in Biology. After graduated from the University of Illinois College of Medicine, he returned to Denver for residency at St. Luke’s Hospital. After becoming Medical Director of Public Service Company in 1986, he met Dr. Mark Huun and they worked together for about six years until their company clinic was sold to HealthONE.
Despite numerous administrative positions over the years (the current one as Chief Medical Officer for HealthONE’s multispecialty group practice of employed physicians) he has always maintained a clinical practice in internal medicine. He counsels his patients that the internist’s goals are disease prevention, early detection/diagnosis of medical problems, and finally to prevent adverse consequences of chronic disease.

Dr. Burgess is great! I've seen him a few times because he was highly recommended by family. He's not a super outgoing, chatty guy, but he definitely remembers you after a few visits. He is thorough, more so than any doctor I have ever been to. I've been to a few doctors who made me feel like I don't know my body or mind, but he trusts and takes in everything you say without judgment. He also is very good about not ordering unnecessary tests.

Dr. Burgess is great. He's professional but still really approachable. He takes the time to understand what's going on and then clearly explains his diagnosis and plan for treatment, careful to assuage any concerns you may have about other possible diagnoses. His staff is also very professional and courteous and the office seems to run very efficiently, so appointments are short. I highly recommend Dr. Burgess and his practice.
