Dr. Chow is a general ophthalmologist and also a specialist in eye misalignments (strabismus) for both children and adults. He has treated and restored vision to many children with laziness of vision in 26 years of practice and has corrected thousands of eye deviations with medical therapy and/or surgery during this period. Dr. Chow also specializes in the research of treatments for degenerative retinal diseases such as retinitis pigmentosa and has spearheaded multi-university research in this area. He is the inventor of the Artificial Silicon Retina, and the founder of Optobionics, that has returned a level of vision to blinded patients. Dr. Chow has received honors and awards from NASA, the National Science Foundation, the NIH, and the Tibbets Award at the White House. He was selected as a Technology Pioneer by the World Economic Forum, a Scientific American 50, and is the recipient of the World Technology Network Award in Health and Medicine.
