Following medical school, he joined the United States Air Force where he served in active duty in flight medicine. He returned to complete his residency at the Medical University of South Carolina, followed by a fellowship in cardiovascular research at Medical University of South Carolina Gazes Cardiac Research Institute and a fellowship in cardiovascular disease at Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Johnson is board certified in cardiovascular disease and a fellow of the American College of Cardiology. He is also a member of Alpha Omega Alpha, the American College of Cardiology, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. and the recipient of the Air Force Commendation Medal.

Dr Johnson and the entire organization are courteous, attentive and friendly. This means quite a bit in todays world.
