I've worked with Allie for years now on my ED recovery journey, and trust her as a pillar of my OP treatment team. She approaches nutrition in recovery in such a realistic way, providing both emotional support and evidenced based nutrition support. I have ADHD and Autism as well - it's not often that you find a provider who understands both the ED and the neurodivergent mind. Her non-diet and non-judgmental approach to nutrition and body image made me feel safe enough to open up fully with a dietitian for the first time in an outpatient setting. Cannot recommend her and Berry Street enough!
Always thorough, listening to my needs and doesn't treat me like 'just a diagnosis'! Allie meets me where I am at, and I trust her clinical expertise and judgment working with her over the last almost two years.

More about Alexandra D'Avanzo, MS, RD

Allie’s interest in Eating Disorders began in college, where she worked with a professor to create a Minor in Eating Disorders. She also combined her passion for this field with sorority life by participating in Sister to Sister, a program supporting college-aged women with body image and eating concerns. After college, Allie gained experience at several eating disorder treatment centers, working with diverse populations within the field. Most recently, she has been working at the New Jersey Department of Corrections, focusing on optimizing nutrition for all inmates, with special attention to trans and nonbinary individuals. Allie believes that nutrition and eating disorder recovery should be individualized, and she enjoys helping each client find their unique path to food freedom. As she puts it, recovery isn’t black or white—sticking to the gray area is what’s most helpful. Allie earned her Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics, along with a minor in the psychology of Eating Disorders, from West Chester University. She completed her Master’s Degree at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. In her free time, Allie enjoys reading, playing the piano, and spending time with her adorable pug, Jagger. This provider is not licensed in the state of NY.
