Alison M. Donovan, FNP-C received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing at Western Michigan University in 2010 and her Master of Science degree in Nursing at Michigan State University in 2014. She is board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) and is licensed in the District of Columbia and Michigan.
Alison’s experience as a healthcare provider started in 2010 at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in 2009, where she was a Student Nurse Intern. In 2010, she was employed as a Registered Nurse at Allegiance Health in Jackson, Michigan and in 2011 at the Department of Veterans Affairs in Ann Arbor, Michigan. In 2014, Alison was employed with Minute Clinic as a Nurse Practitioner, where she autonomously managed the Walk-in Clinic, conduct physical assessments, performed and interpreted diagnostic tests, diagnosed and treated common conditions, provided screenings, counseled patients on healthy lifestyle choices, and prescribed medications as needed to patients.

I would gladly go back to Alison Donovan. She was kind, a clear communicator, thorough, and efficient. She and her staff asked several times what questions I had—or if I had others—and it was clear that providing patients with answers and the care they need is a top priority.

4/5. Friendly staff, no wait and I felt the NP was a great listener and helpful in response. Downsides: Tricky to find the entrance. Smelled a bit strange and equipment used by tech seemed a bit out of date.

Alison was very prompt and direct. She listened to what I had to say, and based on my recent medical history of recurring infections, she decided to test for two bacteria that aren’t normally tested for that may be causing issues. I appreciate that she was able to connect those dots and get me treatment for an underlying issue.

With a follow up appointment, I didn't expect to wait too long once I checked into the office. I was not disappointed. I was seen immediately. Alison was thorough and accommodating, she suggested different options to combat some of the side effects that I am experiencing. I appreciated it. I did need to change my pharmacy. Hopefully they can send the prescription before the pharmacy closes for the weekend.

Unfortunately, I can’t recommend Alison or this practice more generally. She wrote a prescription that the pharmacy couldn’t fill without the doctor’s office submitting information to my insurance company. Despite repeated calls to Alison and her medical colleagues requesting her to complete the prescription submission prior to the long weekend, as well as messages sent via the app, her staff failed to complete the paperwork, never called me back despite repeatedly reassuring me they would do so, and the office is now closed for the 3 day weekend. There’s no way to get the medicine without the completed prescription and authorization paperwork. She and her staff do not prioritize patient care, and I therefore recommend looking elsewhere for quality care and service. Her office also does not maintain their Zocdoc appointment times accurately. They have canceled every appointment I have tried to schedule via Zocdoc, instead requesting that I call to make an appointment instead.

Alison Donovan, NP was great and very professional. I made an annual physical appointment with her as well, as a result of how great she was at this appointment! My only complaint is that the front desk staff was less than helpful - if it is your first time at this office please note the entrance is not on U Street, it’s on 12th Street, and the elevator does not let you up or down without a keycard, so the door that looks like a closet to the right of the elevator is actually the stairs that you need to take up to the office. I didn’t know any of that when I went for my first appointment, and when I called to ask the front desk I had to wait on hold for several minutes and then they were very rude when I asked how to get up there. I ended up being late to the appointment and had to wait over an hour to see the doctor.

The receptionists were very polite and professional. They saw me immediately! My appointment was for 1pm and I saw the NP at 1pm! That never happens! Alison was professional and was able to provide me with additional referrals for my specific needs! I liked their service so much that I have decided to make them my primary care providers. Top notch care overall. Thank you!

I arrived early and was seen on time, first by the friendly and professional medical assistant who made me comfortable while weighing me and taking my vitals.
I then met with Alison Donovan, Nurse Practitioner, who did my annual physical and the dreaded PAP/GYN exam. For me, this was an ideal experience in all ways. She asked if I had the shingles vaccine yet - explained the 2 step process and gave me the first shot. I don't want to get shingles, so this is great!!

Alison was great. Super chill and and thorough about explaining things. The lady that drew my blood was great as well. The staff in the front was super unprofessional. Complaining about their jobs and talking to each other. They would get distracted and have to ask me questions over and over because they were talking. They also passed my insurance card and ID around and literally Tossed them on the opposite side of the counter and told me I could pick it up there instead of handing it back to me. Other than that experience the professionals I saw were very kind and helpful.

Alison and the clinic staff were all extremely kind and efficient. I was in and out of the office within 40 minutes and never waited more than 5 minutes to be seen by any of the staff. Alison and the other nurses went out of their way to make me feel comfortable, ensure that my questions were answered, and to give me a comprehensive schedule for upcoming treatments. It was very reassuring to be seen and treated by such competent and kind staff, especially when I was apprehensive going in.
