Amanda Swickard was born and raised in central Ohio. She went to Northridge High School in Johnstown, Ohio where she graduated as valedictorian. She accepted a scholarship to play women’s basketball at Walsh University in North Canton, Ohio where she was a captain and graduated magma cum laude. There she received her bachelor degree in science, with a focus on pre-medicine. Amanda then attended Marietta College in Marietta, Ohio for graduate school and obtained her masters in physician assistant studies. She graduated with honors and was inducted into the physician assistant honor society, Pi Alpha. After graduating Amanda moved to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and worked in trauma surgery for two years. Along with practicing medicine, research is something she is very passionate about and she has been published in both The American Surgeon Journal and JAAPA. She also received the opportunity to present at the Southeastern Surgical Conference in 2017. In her spare time, Amanda enjoys traveling, spending time with friends and family, running, and playing sports.
