No wait time since I filled out the paperwork ahead of time as requested. Dr. CaJacob and her nurse Lindsey explained every procedure in advance and always asked if my 10 year daughter is okay and if we had any questions. My daughter had to have the scratch test, 21 shots and 6 vials of blood drawn in 1 appointment, she handled it better than I thought she would due to the gentle and caring treatment she received today.

More about Dr. Amy CaJacob, MD
Dr. Amy CaJacob is a native of Cincinnati, Ohio, and graduated from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. She then completed her Residency in Internal Medicine and her Allergy and Immunology Fellowship here at the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham.
Dr. CaJacob believes that she was "born to be an allergist". As a third generation allergist, she literally grew up in the "family business". Working summers at her parents' practice she was able to watch allergy shot patients come back week after week. Given the time to develop relationships with these patients, and actually see them get better, is what drew her into allergy - the opportunity to change someone's quality of life so dramatically.
Most would say shes a pediatrician at heart, but she chose to complete her residency in Internal Medicine due to the complexity of diagnosis and treatment of adult conditions. During their fellowship, allergists are then trained from life to death, so she feels that now she gets the best of both worlds, being able to see patients of all ages.
Dr. CaJacob has a specific interest in food allergy, and also in eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE). After beginning in EoE research in medical school, she is still fascinated by the condition and the many still unanswered diagnostic and treatment questions it offers. She enjoys that it is a true two-way collaboration between the patient and allergist when treating EoE. Dr CaJacob also enjoys helping people find a more "natural" way of treatment when possible, hoping to help them feel better with less medications, and loves listening and talking to patients to help them with their needs a treatment plans.
