I've been going to Dr. Porter for almost 20 years, and I couldn't ask for a better physician. She's extremely professional, friendly, thorough, observant and has a great sense of humor. Yes, it's a busy practice and appointments are fairly quick, but I've never felt like I'm being rushed through the process or that my questions aren't being answered. Dr. Porter makes you feel like you're in competent hands.

Dr. Amy Porter graduated in 1996 from UVA School of Medicine and completed her residency in 2000 at Georgetown University. She is Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Fellow of the American College of OB/GYN. She has been recognized by Washingtonian Magazine as one of the area’s top gynecologists.
Dr. Porter specializes in promoting hormonal wellness at every age. Her interests include menstrual irregularities, female athletes, polycystic ovarian syndrome, perimenopause, and menopause. She is a member of the North American Menopause Society and the National Osteoporosis Foundation.

Love everything about this office from the staff checking you in, to the nurses and of course Dr. Porter. I have seen Dr. Porter for over 20 years. She always greets you with a smile and asks how you are. She has excellent beside manor and ALWAYS makes you feel comfortable. She is knowledgable, patient in listening and answering my questions. Highly recommend this office.

Wow - I love Dr Porter- knowledgeable, kind, open to hearing what I have to say (this is a BIG one and not at all common), and am so thrilled to have found a GYN I can stick with. She’s great, and her office staff was fantastic. You get conditioned to surly medical office staff and then are really pleasantly surprised when they are as lovely and delightful as all three ladies I encountered at this office. I’ve been searching for a doctor’s office I can feel good about, and THIS IS IT - YAY!!

The office staff were friendly and engaging - rare! Dr. Porter herself was very attentive. She asked great questions and listened while I explained why I was there. I do not like going to the doctor, but she was able to make me feel at ease and make me feel like she really wanted to help. Great experience!

Dr. Porter was wonderful and I'm so happy to have found someone who was clear, kind, and who I felt comfortable with. I've bounced around from GYN to GYN because I couldn't find someone who I felt comfortable with. Dr. Porter will for sure be my permanent GYN from now on!

I’ve been seeing Dr. Porter since I had my first son over 14 years ago. Since then I’ve had 2 other kids and Dr. Porter delivered them all. She is the best! Even now that I’m finished having babies, I still see Dr. Porter every year. She listens, provides advice and is just so easy to talk to. I appreciate everything she does.

I arrived for my appointment early and they took me early. That's NEVER happened before. That was my first "WOW". All, yes all, of the staff members were friendly and helpful. They didn't act haggard, annoyed or busy like I've experienced at other facilities. This was one of the most enjoyable experiences. Finally, Dr. Amy Porter is incredible. She is clearly an expert in her field and provides a wealth of information during the visit. She validates her patients and helps them/us get to the root cause of our symptoms/issues. She never made me feel rushed. She listened, collaborated and provided efficient care along with and action plan and next steps. LOVE HER.

My initial appointment with Dr. Porter was very encouraging. She spent time learning about my history, conducted a thorough and painless exam, and invited and was willing to answer any questions. She also seemed very well-versed in issues relating to post-menopause. The zocdoc procedure for setting up the appointment was easy and quick, online check-in/paperwork process was user friendly, and office staff was sufficiently polite and competent. Wait time was only about 5-10 minutes in outer waiting room and just 5 minutes in exam room (for early morning appointment). I’m excited that I finally found a new gyno after my previous one left the area.

This was my first visit. Dr. Porter was very attentive to my concerns, listened carefully, and addressed each of them. The office is difficult to find on your first visit as it is in the back of the building up at set of outdoor stairs. The website should have a picture or description of where it is.

This was my first visit to this office and with Dr. Porter. She came in to chat before I gowned up and she was very personable and made me feel comfortable before starting to ask more personal questions. Very thorough, an excellent listener and answered all my questions. I spent almost no time waiting to be seen or for the doctor, which is a nice change from a lot of doctor's offices.

Dr. Porter is great. I have been to a handful of OBGYNs and I feel she is the only one that will listen to my issues and believes me. I also love that she follows research and will only prescribe medicine that has been studied. Of all the OBGYNs she has helped me most. Her "virtual" visits are just as good--you can even tell she cares over the phone.

Great first visit! Dr. Porter and the office staff were lovely and everything was timely/efficient without feeling rushed. Appointment was 30 min overall and a good portion of that time was with the doctor. I went in for a nexplanon replacement and they had all the forms organized and ready but she also took time to do my annual exam & pap smear and get to know my history since I’m a new patient. Dr. Porter was attentive to my specific needs, non-judgmental, and a great listener. Will definitely go back!
