More about Dr. Ansu Joy, MD
Dr. Joy grew up in Long Island, New York. She received her undergraduate degree from Boston University in 2000. She spent the following two years in research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, MA.
Dr. Joy earned her M.D from Ross University with high honors. She went on to complete her Internal Medicine internship and residency at the University of Connecticut. She received the Resident of the Year Ambulatory Clinic Award from the University of Connecticut Internal Medicine Residency Program. She remained at the University of Connecticut and completed a rigorous fellowship in Endocrinology, Metabolism, and Bone Disease. While her interests in endocrinology are many, Dr. Joy dedicated her research to the effects of bisphosphonates on bone microarchitecture. In fact, Dr. Joy was among the first endocrinologists to present a case series of patients with atypical subtrochanteric fractures after prolonged treatment with alendronate.
In addition to metabolic bone disease, Dr. Joy’s clinical interests include diseases of the thyroid, diabetes, and polycystic ovarian syndrome. Dr. Joy is skilled in head and neck ultrasound and fine needle aspiration of suspicious thyroid nodules. She is currently pursuing the prestigious ECNU certification.
