Dr. Antonio Barksdale is a compassionate, analytical family physician treating patients in Dallas, Texas, and the surrounding communities. His primary goal as a practitioner is to partner with his patients to optimize their health and overall wellbeing. He and his staff create an atmosphere of warmth and positivity. Dr. Barksdale holds certification from the American Board of Family Medicine.
For his undergraduate degree, Dr. Barksdale attended Baylor University. He pursued his medical degree at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center at Houston. Dr. Barksdale received his residency training through the John Peter Smith Family Medicine Program in Fort Worth. He is now a member of professional organizations including the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Family Physicians, and the Texas Academy of Family Physicians.
Patients visiting Dr. Barksdale can receive a full range of medical services. He provides general consultations, annual physical examinations, and disease screenings, as well as Pap smears, skin biopsy, minor laceration repair, weight management, and abscess draining.
When he is not treating patients, Dr. Barksdale is active through his church, community health fairs, and health promotion presentations. He is also the associative director of McNair Scholars program at SMU which fosters graduate education amongst high risk students. Barksdale volunteers with Dallas School District for career days and mentoring.

I hate to say the Dr. was bad because Dr. Barksdale was great! The reason for the bad review is that they claimed they were in network with my insurance (I even have a screenshot to prove it), and now I have a huge bill because they are NOT in network. NOTHING was said when I checked in and presented my insurance card.

My overall experience was a great one! This was my first time there and I'm always skeptical of new doctors' offices. The receptionist could've been more friendlier. This is an updated review from my initial review. I still like Dr. Barksdale but the staff is rude and come off as uncaring. It took 3 attempts for them to find a vein for my annual physical blood work and then they couldn't collect enough blood and was told that they'd test what they could with the amount that was drawn.
Also, I've never received a follow-up call from Dr. Barksdale or nursing staff which is disconcerting when you're using certain medications, in my opinion. I'd be more apt to keep seeing Dr. Barksdale if he were in a private practice or the office/nursing staff completely changed.

It was my first visit, the office staff was very pleasant, very patient. Everyone wore a smile on their faces which made the visit feel very welcoming. Dr. Barksdale was very attentive, he's a great listener, and he shows a lot of compassion for his patients. We've been seeking a family doctor and I'm glad to say we've found him!

Dr. Barksdale has always been friendly, professional and went straight to the medical issue at hand. The staff at the clinic, who welcome patients, schedule appointments, etc., quickly give an attitude showing how little they care. They are very rude and unhelpful on the phone and don't try to accomodate patients calling for an appointment. Dr. Barksdale is a wonderful doctor....he just needs a new front office staff.

For the first time in my life the front office made me pay before rendering service. This has not happened to me in any other clinic.
They also got me verified by the medicare in spite of showing the drivers license and the medicare card, also a first time experience.

The office called and told me I either needed to rush over or reschedule because the Dr. had an emergency and needed to leave by 3. I left work immediately and proceed to wait for an hour. I did not see the Dr. till 3:45-4:00. I would appreciate greater consideration of my time.

Very friendly staff, nurse and of course Doctor. Professional and child friendly too, always have a kids movie showing. I do not like to give blood but the nurse, Erica, taking it was the best I've ever had. Highly Recommend!

Dr. Barksdale was professional. He was very thorough. Even though it was my first visit, he took an interest into the state of my health. We scheduled another appointment within the next month to review my test results and discuss further treatment, if necessary.
