My truest belief is that the relationship between therapist and client is instrumental in helping one facilitate growth, recovery, and healing. This partnership requires mutual trust and communication, and I strive to cultivate a space where clients feel safe, seen, heard, and held. In my experience, some of the biggest transformations launch from the base of a trusting therapeutic alliance. I joined Neuhof Psychotherapy and Consulting, PLLC due to my belief that continued collaboration and training with industry experts leads to better client care and therapeutic outcomes. I am a NYS Licensed Clinical Psychologist with over a decade of experience providing psychotherapy, neuropsychological evaluations, and critical case consultations for healthcare professionals. After earning my PhD in Clinical Psychology from Adelphi University, I worked with clients in major urban hospital- and school-based clinics, including Mount Sinai Beth Israel Medical Center, Baruch College Counseling Center, Lenox Hill Hospital, and Maimonides Medical Center. My advanced training culminated in a Postdoctoral Fellowship at Columbia University Counseling & Psychological Services, where I was then hired as a psychologist dedicated to treating both undergraduate and graduate students. At these placements, I honed my expertise in working with clients from diverse sociocultural backgrounds, identities, and concerns. I am trained as a generalist, which means I am competent to treat individuals with an array of concerns. Over the course of my career, however, I have developed specializations in working with clients with acute and chronic health conditions and pain. In my work with individuals with medical complications,

In my work with individuals with medical complications,

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach to treatment is rooted in psychodynamic psychotherapy because I believe this creates enduring and meaningful change. This often takes the form of a deep dive exploration into one’s past experiences, relationships, and coping patterns. I journey with my clients to explore their internal world and hidden anxieties, wounds, or experiences that are causing them discomfort, pain, or feelings of “stuckness.” I am also integrative and flexible, and work collaboratively to cocreate a therapy experience unique to each client. To that end, I incorporate techniques from other empirically validated treatments, such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Mindfulness-Based Therapies to provide further insight and relief. Above all, I am committed to bringing empathy, openness, and honesty to the therapy space that fosters growth and positive change.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

You will first speak with Dr. Jennifer Neuhof, the founder of the NPC (intimate group) psychotherapy practice, who will provide a 20 minute complimentary phone consultation to see if I can meet your needs via Telehealth. If so, she will offer you a session time. The first several sessions are exploratory as I will be interested in hearing about what brings you to therapy and what you hope to experience. I will also ask you questions about multiple life domains including an historical narrative so that I can begin to get to know you on a deeper level, and ultimately share some insight into what therapy with me might be like. That said, I view it as a co-created process, which is unique to each person and evolves with their needs and desires. You should also know that at NPC, we collaborate to ensure that your needs are addressed sensitively and effectively while drawing from well-honed intuitive, insight-oriented, and evidence-based methodologies.
