Dr. Ugel received his Bachelor of Science Degree from the George Washington University in Washington, DC where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He received his medical degree from the George Washington University Medical School and was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha. Dr. Ugel performed his residency in dermatology at Johns Hopkins University Hospital, Baltimore, Maryland. He did additional residency studies at the New York University Medical Center, New York City, which included clinics at Bellevue and New York Skin and Cancer Hospitals. Dr. Ugel then completed a fellowship as a Clinical Associate in the Dermatology Branch of the National Cancer Institute, Bethesda, Maryland.
As a Medical Officer and Senior Investigator at the National Cancer Institute he published numerous articles on skin biochemistry. His experience includes teaching dermatology at Johns Hopkins Hospital and at the Childrens Hospital in Washington, DC. He is an Associate Clinical Professor of Dermatology and Pediatrics at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Science in Washington, DC. Dr. Ugel served as Chief of Dermatology of the Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, DC. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Dermatology, and a member of the American Academy of Dermatology.
Dr. Ugel has been named a "Top Doctor" by Washingtonian Magazine, and has been selected as "Best Dermatologist" by Bethesda Magazine.
