Dr. Goldberg is a board-certified adult psychiatrist and forensic psychiatrist practicing in Southern California. In addition to his general practice, Dr. Goldberg specializes in marital therapy and marital interventions as a treatment for psychiatric disorders. Dr. Goldberg graduated summa cum laude from Yeshiva University with a Bachelor’s degree in philosophy and a focus on philosophy of science. He completed his medical training at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine, where he simultaneously earned a master’s degree in Medical Humanities and Bioethics. He then moved to Los Angeles to pursue specialized training in the psychotherapeutic and pharmacologic management of psychiatric illness. He completed his residency training in General Adult Psychiatry at the UCLA Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior. During this time, Dr. Goldberg focused intensely on the use of marital and family therapy as a psychotherapeutic intervention in addition to his broad training in psychopharmacology, cognitive behavioral therapy and psychodynamic psychotherapy. Dr. Goldberg served as chief resident of inpatient psychiatry at the UCLA Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital. In this role, he specialized in the treatment of complex illness and taught a course to residents on the diagnosis and pharmacologic management of difficult-to-treat cases. He has also served in multiple other teaching roles, delivering lectures to medical students and residents on the philosophy of medicine, psychiatric ethics and forensic issues. Dr. Goldberg completed a specialized fellowship in Forensic Psychiatry at the UCLA Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior in 2021. Currently, Dr. Goldberg works at Southern California TMS Center, where he focuses on the cutting-edge use of TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) to treat complex mood and anxiety disorders. Dr. Goldberg has numerous peer-reviewed publications, including a book chapter, and has presented his award-winning research at conferences nationwide. His research areas include forensic ethics, decision-making capacity and the role of the humanities in psychiatric education. Dr. Goldberg is a diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and is certified in TMS through the Clinical TMS Society. He is a member of the Southern California Psychiatric Society, the American Psychiatric Association, the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law, the American Family Therapy Association and the Clinical TMS Society. He also serves as an active member of the ethics committee for the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law. Dr. Goldberg has been called upon to testify as a psychiatric expert witness in civil, criminal and mental health courts throughout California. He is currently listed on the court panel of experts for the Los Angeles Superior Court and is a listed expert for consultation to entertainment industry films and television.
