Dr. Kshirsagar (“Dr. K”) was raised in the Southeast and Midwest United States. He attended The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for his undergraduate degree and Emory University for medical school. After an internal medicine internship, he completed his general surgery and urology residency at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Kshirsagar is certified by the American Board of Urology.
After finishing his general urology training, he went on to complete an accredited fellowship in Male Infertility & Andrology at The University of Illinois at Chicago – one of only a handful of academic centers in the United States which offers such a fellowship. A substantial amount of his time during this fellowship was dedicated to learning the expertise of microsurgery: the practice of using a operating microscope during surgery to improve magnification. During his fellowship, he learned to apply this technique and others to the treatment of men who have problems with sperm production and other medical conditions which prevent men from conceiving with their partners. In Northern Virginia Dr. K is a leader in performing the delicate Micro-TESE surgery- a sophisticated procedure which can find sperm in men who otherwise were thought to have none.
Dr. Kshirsagar has given talks nationally and internationally on the subject of male infertility and has been an international moderator at infertility conventions. When it comes to patient care, he understands the emotional impact infertility has on a couple--- while his focus is placed on the male, he encourages the participation of both partners.
