Dr. Austin Marolla is a board certified Optometry specialist who graduated from SUNY Optometry Class of 2001. While he was a student he served as class president, SVOSH Secretary, AOSA Trustee and AOSA National Vice President. Having 18 years experience, Dr. Marolla has had the privilege of working as an optometrist in private practice, commercial and hospital settings. Currently, Dr. Marolla is a board certified assistant professor at SUNY Optometry in charge of the Homebound Vision Program in Manhattan and the Bronx. He has also been an assistant professor at CUNY teaching refraction and anatomy and physiology of the eye for several years. Dr. Marolla was also the optometric director at Project Renewal - an organization that gives health care and eye exams to the homeless community of New York City. Dr. Marolla served as the first eye doctor to work for international Ray Ban brand at there Global Hub in SoHo New York. In addition to being an optometrist, Dr. Austin Marolla is an acclaimed singer-songwriter and licensed Reiki Master.

This is the first review I've ever written, bc it's worth sharing my summer 2022 experience. If you want an eye doctor that barely looks at your eyes, says they look good, and sends you on your way, Dr. Marolla is right for you. For his bedside manner, Dr. Marolla barely made eye contact while talking to me. I mentioned a condition my previous doc had been monitoring for 4+ years, and he never addressed it or examined my eyes with this condition in mind. When given option 1 vs. option 2 of "which looks better", he never changed the lettering on the screen. By the third review, I had the letters memorized, so could've easily lied about what I could / could not see. When I asked about insurance parameters, he responded "welcome to the world of insurance" which is not helpful. One of his staff had actual answers to my questions, so I ultimately got what I needed. I decided to try him based on positive Zocdoc reviews, but he did not align with any of the reviews. I won't be going back.

The doctor himself was great. The staff wasn't too friendly though. Also, it took 7 weeks for me to receive me glasses smh. Not only did it take extremely long to receive the lenses but I they never reached out to me about them. I had to call the office multiple times to find when I would be receiving the lenses.

Fast and efficient when they finally call you to the back. The lady that checked me in today was nice and cleared up some information about my visit and insurance. Overall satisfied with my visit even though they could only provide me my prescription but no frames etc. I will continue to come here the doctor was great and helped with my dry eyes issue.

I initially missed my appointment but they were still able to see me right away. Had no issue paying out-of-pocket. Dr. Marolla was very friendly. They took the time to teach me how to use my new contacts.

This was honestly the best place i’ve ever gone to for my eye exam. I feel like they really try to see every possible thing that could be wrong with your eyes so i felt like they really addressed things that honestly i hadnt even thought of. Also, Dr. Marolla is so so so nice and so funny!! Loved this visit and will definitely be coming back!
