Dr. Iqbal has been practicing medicine in Southern California for over twenty years. He graduated with honors from both the University of Illinois and Rush Medical College, where he received his Doctor in Medicine. Dr. Iqbal continued his post graduate education and training at the Santa Monica-UCLA Family Medicine Residency program where he worked as an emergency physician. His excellence in teaching resulted in his being elected by his peers as Chief Resident in his final year of residency. As a result of his passion for family medicine, Dr. Iqbal founded Agoura Family Practice in 1992. Since the inception of AFP Associates, Dr. Iqbal believes strongly in empowering his patients with education and knowledge of their illness. His special areas of interest include active and aggressive management of diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, cardiac disease, and stress and mental health disorders. He is also a firm believer of blending Western medicine with holistic and other naturopathic treatments. Dr. Iqbal is Board Certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and the American Academy of Family Practice.
Dr. Iqbal is very much a proud member of the Conejo Valley community. He volunteers his time to the Conejo Free Clinic in Thousand Oaks, CA where he sees patients who cannot afford healthcare coverage. Over time his clinic has become a Diabetes Specialty Clinic where most of the diabetic patients are under his care. Dr. Iqbal has also raised his family in the area where both his children grew up to follow their father's footsteps in the field of medicine. His daughter is a second year resident in Internal Medicine at UC Irvine and his son is a medical student in Chicago.
