More about Dr. Barb Brown, OD
Dr. Barb Brown of Overland Optical attended the University of Missouri – St. Louis, where she received a B.A. in Chemistry (cum laude) and minor in Mathematics in 1984 and her Doctor of Optometry degree in 1988. She received a graduate certificate in Nonprofit Management and Leadership in 2005.
Dr. Brown went into practice in West St. Louis County, eventually joining the staff of the University of Missouri – St. Louis College of Optometry. She remains a staff member currently, and was awarded the Chancellor’s Award for Staff Excellence in 2006 and in 2011.
Joining Overland Optical Family Eye Care in 2007, Dr. Brown has a special interest in Family Practice. She also specializes in hard to fit contact lens patients and low vision/TBI vision rehabilitation. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. She has been a member of the American Optometric Association, the Missouri Optometric Association, and the St. Louis Optometric Society since 1984. She became a life member of the Missouri Optometric Foundation, and she was elected to its board in 2002; she continues to serve as the Secretary of the board (2002-present).
In her free time, Dr. Brown is very active at her church and works with several optometric pre-optometric student groups encouraging future optometrists.
