Doctor K was a good listener, and quite knowledgeable about the vagaries of diabetic eye problems. Her thorough examination showed a significant change in my vision, but instead of immediately prescribing new glasses, she plans to contact my primary care doc to advise checking my sugar levels before she does anything further. Angela, the receptionist, was very nice and offered me a bottle of water which I much appreciated.First-time patients should note that the shop is named Plymouth Eye Care on its sign, not Gimbel Eye Associates as reflected on ZocDoc.

Hello! My name is Barbara Karagiannopoulos O.D., and I am an Optometrist here at Gimbel Eye Associates. I strive to give my patients the most comprehensive eye exam, utilizing the most up to date optical equipment available. I practice full scope optometry, evaluating and treating eyes for any diseases or disorders, along with prescribing glasses and contact lenses for patients of all ages. My personal favorite specialties include working with children of all ages, fitting of contact lenses, and correcting the more difficult prescriptions.
I received my Doctoral degree from The Pennsylvania College of Optometry, now Salus University, in 2001 and a Bachelor in Science from Widener University in 1994. I have practiced in the greater Philadelphia area in private, hospital and commercial settings. Along with routine eye exams, I have worked closely with other Optometrists and Ophthalmologists co managing Cataract and Refractive surgeries, various Retinal diseases such as Glaucoma and Diabetes and Amblyopic and Accommodative disorders.
I strongly believe that a yearly eye exam is a very important part in the maintenance of your health. The eyes are truly the windows to your soul, revealing hints to the condition of the body. Many times, the eyes give the first symptom in Diabetes and High Blood Pressure. Learning disabilities are strongly linked to certain eye disorders and Glaucoma silently takes away your sight. It is my goal to help each individual achieve their optimal overall health.
Working closely with a knowledgeable and educated Optician, such as Frank, patients are able to receive a full service of care from the moment an appointment is made to the moment they put their new glasses on. Feel free to stop in and say hello, we’d love to see you!

Dr K and her staff are very nice, courteous, friendly people who make you feel welcome from the second you walk in.
