An accomplished and highly-trained surgeon, Behrooz A. Akbarnia, MD, provides world-class orthopedic spine care to the local and international community. As a graduate of both the John H. Moe Scoliosis Fellowship Program and a spine fellowship at the Twin Cities Scoliosis Center, Dr. Akbarnia has received training from some of his field’s leading institutions. He now trains surgical fellows at the Scoliosis Research Society, the Growing Spine Foundation, and the San Diego Spine Foundation, which helps to initiate research and education for children with scoliosis.
Dr. Akbarnia is committed to finding minimally-invasive approaches for adult deformities, as well as developing non-invasive surgical methods for children with early onset scoliosis. By maintaining a competitive academic institution within a private medical practice, he and his staff are able to provide technically advanced treatment in a warm, compassionate, and comfortable environment.
Originally from Iran, Dr. Akbarnia enjoys travelling, spending time with his family, and celebrating his children’s and grandchildren’s accomplishments. He welcomes you to his office!
