I earned my bachelor’s degree from Virginia Commonwealth University and received my MD from University of Virginia. I completed my internship in general surgery and urology residency at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia.
During my training I was drawn to urology because it encompasses a wide breadth of medical and surgical problems. Some of the things I do provide immediate relief to patients – and in turn – immediate gratification for me as the provider. However, many urologic problems require long-term follow-up and long-term care. The opportunity to take care of patients both medically and surgically and follow them over a long period of time was what attracted me to the field.
My personal philosophy and approach to urology is to treat the person and not just the condition. Many of the conditions we treat affect patients’ quality of life, sometimes quite profoundly. I try to be sensitive as possible with patients and family with respect to potential physical and emotional side effects of many of our treatments. I believe in open dialogue with patients, to empower them and their families with knowledge so they can make informed decisions regarding their care.

I've been dealing with the symptoms of what is likely some sort of bacterial infection for over a year now, and cannot get anyone to take me seriously or give me the time of day. Dr. Bic seems like a great guy, with a nice demeanor and a generally positive demeanor, but seemed genuinely uninterested with my problems. I've been to the ER, Urgent Care, and waited three months for this appointment, only to be given less than 5 minutes of his time. Maybe he is one of the best, and has x-ray vision so he doesn't have to examine anything. Unfortunately, the search for a doctor who will actually listen, and take me seriously, continues.
