“As a gay/queer person, it can be scary to visit a doctor, especially if it is related to your sexual health. Dr. Umapathi far exceeded expectations and should be an example of affirming, humanistic care.
I have had chronic pain for 7 years. I was visiting this time, however, because of an acute problem, but also thought to mention my chronic pain after seeing several doctors who did not know how to help me. Dr. Umapathi listened to my history and asked the right questions to make me feel safe and understood. She seemed almost shocked at the previous care I had been given, which let me know about her standard of care and integrity of her practice. During the exam, she was talking to me about her observations and diagnostic thoughts in a way that I could understand. After the exam she told me what was going on and even drew a diagram which helped me visualize the problem. She gave me a clear/comprehensive treatment plan with referrals and a follow up. I cannot sing her praises enough!”

Dr. Umapathi is a very highly skilled colorectal surgeon who is compassionate, an excellent listener, explains procedures well, and truly cares about her patients. She is
a true healer in every sense of the word. I have been seeing Dr. Bindu Umapathi since June 2018 when she performed colorectal cancer surgery to remove a cancerous tumor in my rectum. She performed the Transanal Minimally Invasive Surgery (TAMIS) which is a surgery very few colorectal surgeons are skilled to perform. She removed the tumor and my recuperation period was only two weeks, and this was amazing because the usual recuperation period from colorectal surgery without TAMIS would have been six months! I am very fortunate that Dr. Umapathi also specializes in the treatment of neuroendocrine tumors because the cancer tumor she removed was a neuroendocrine tumor which is a very rare form of cancer that many colorectal surgeons are not familiar with. I am blessed to have Dr. Umapathi on my medical team.

To quickly sum of the review Dr. Umapathi was one of the best doctors that I have seen in awhile. She took the time to listen to the problem I was having, what possible solutions are and the risk with each option, we came up with a game plan for treatment before I left. I would recommend her to all my friends and family members. The nurses and receptionist where also just as friendly and helpful, more than any doctors office I've ever been to, this place has Four Seasons level customer service.
I've had an issue with a pilonidal cyst for the past year and seen a few doctors and specialist about it. I came to Dr. Umapathi because the visit with another office didn't go well and I didn't feel like they were providing me with proper treatment options. Dr. Umapathi sat with me for a half hour to explain exactly what these cysts are and what can cause them, most of was news to me even though I had seen multiple specialists at another practice.

Appointments with proctologists are never easy. But Dr. Umapathi made sure that I was comfortable in explaining my condition. She listened carefully, took down notes, and then she examined me. She was very professional and skillful. I had no hesitation in asking her to do the procedure needed in my case.
