Dr. Rhode completed his sports medicine training at the Southern California Center for Sports Medicine. This is an accredited fellowship institution where Dr. Rhode spent an additional year training in complicated reconstruction of the shoulder, knee and elbow. Prior to that, he completed his five-year surgical residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin and his four-year medical training at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Dr. Rhode is also triple-board certified in orthopedic surgery, orthopedic sports medicine, and by the American Board of Independent Medical Examiners, which governs impairment ratings.
Dr. Rhode is trained in all orthopedic injuries and specializes in knee, shoulder, and elbow reconstruction. He has received specialty training in all-arthroscopic rotator cuff repair, arthroscopic shoulder instability repair and knee ligament reconstruction. He was one of the first surgeons in the United States to perform the Oxford partial knee replacement and the double bundle ACL reconstruction.
Dr. Rhode frequently serves as an educator for the Arthroscopy Association of America, teaching other orthopedic surgeons knee and shoulder arthroscopy. Surgeons trust Dr. Rhode to teach them the complicated procedures that they perform in their own practice.
"My goal is to educate the patient such that they understand their condition and the risks and benefits of each treatment. Most aspects of orthopedic surgery are not life and death situations. More often, a change in quality of life must be weighed against the risks of a particular treatment. An informed patient is able to determine what course of treatment is appropriate for them."

I had an appointment with Dr. Mark Borbick. What a wonderful doctor and staff. From the front desk staff to the x ray techs to the nurses, everyone was exceptionally great. Dr. Rhode was immediately friendly, listened well and provided advice with confidence. He answered my questions and took a conservative approach to my problem. I think the visit was a little rushed, most likely because I was the last patient for the day, and of course that made me forget about some questions that I wanted to ask but due to being kind of rushed I forgot to ask. He is very friendly and will not worry you with unnecessary things, but I kinda felt like I left and my problem was still left unresolved.

Dr. Rhode was very congenial, and he was knowledgeable about my problem. However, his office was out of the way and difficult to find. No one gave us directions, so it took us quite a while to find the office. We parked in the back of the building because there were no places on the side only to find out that we had to go to the side of the building. When we went to the side of the building, there was a sign that said we had to go to the front of the building. Soooo, we had to walk almost all the way around the building to find the entrance. Also, while I was waiting in the examining room, I heard the doctors and nurses talking loudly in the hall. It seemed as though they had time to waste while I was waiting. All in all, my opinion of Dr. Rhode is favorable, and I will see him again if I have another similar problem.

The facility is AMAZING! The office staff is very friendly and I was given an appointment the same day. Dr. Rhode took his time during the visit and did not make me feel like I was just a number. Physical therapy on site made my life so much easier!

Really a great experience - both the office staff and Dr. Rhode. Unlike doctors that I've seen in the past, he took the time to thoroughly diagnose my injury and talk through the alternative treatments. I would highly recommend Dr. Rhode to anyone with a sports injury.
