More about Dr. Brent Goedjen, MD
Dr. Goedjen was raised in Muscle Shoals Alabama. He completed his undergraduate training as a member of the Honors College at Auburn University where he majored in Chemical Engineering with a pre-medicine specialization.
Dr. Goedjen attended the University of South Alabama in Mobile. Here, through his hard work and educational achievements he was honored with election to the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. He also won the John Watson Donald surgical award for his performance during 3rd year surgical rotation.
Dr. Goedjen served his internship at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida where he also did his residency training. During his final year he served as co-chief resident for his program. The excellent clinical training allowed him to obtain his board certification in dermatology upon graduation.
Live Oak Dermatology was founded in Feb 2019 and is located in the heart of downtown historic Roswell. A new location was added in Alpharetta in 2024 for patient convenience. Dr. Goedjen strives to stay true to the Mayo Clinic motto that the needs of the patient come first. Dr. Goedjen believes that model of personal patient care and long term commitment can still be successful even at a time when medicine, and dermatology in particular, is under the influence of increasing corporatization.
The name for the practice was inspired by the incredible Southern Live Oak Tree which were abundant at both Mobile and Jacksonville where Dr. Goedjen did his training and is also the official state tree of Georgia. Twin Live Oak Trees are also an important part of place and tradition at the heart of Auburn’s campus at Toomer’s Corner. The stability, longevity, and protection they provide are attributes he hopes associate with his practice.

My longtime dermatologist retired so I needed to find a new doctor and this was my first visit. Dr. Goedjen was personal and thorough in his examination for skin cancers. He apologized for being a bit late but he took the time to answer all my questions and explained everything well. I think I found a winner.
