We are a cash-based practice and do not accept insurance other than L&I. We provide documentation so you can file for reimbursement with your insurance and our lower fees mean you can get more care for the same out-of-pocket expense. Read below for more details on the benefit of the cash-based practice for you. My name is Dr. Brian Fox and I have been a Primary Care and Urgent Care provider in the Puget Sound area for over 12 years, as well as 9 years in the Midwest prior to moving to the beautiful state of Washington. I came to medicine later than some, having held many roles over the years, from bartender and waiter to an administrator for IBM, a VP of a small finance company, and an insurance agent. After finding little satisfaction with the corporate world, I endeavored to find my calling and through some experiences in volunteering, I found a passion for caring for the sick. I followed that dream and attended medical school at Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine. I completed a residency in Family Medicine in Chicago and worked with several healthcare systems over the years which helped me continue to care for patients, however the emphasis of the industry over the years became too focused on administrative burdens – patients became algorithms to follow, rather than voices to be heard. At this stage of my career, I feel my joy will continue to be caring for the sick and helping the healthy stay that way. Opening Fox Medical Center is my way of bringing it back to the basics and making patient care focused on the doctor-patient relationship again. The most common out-of-pocket deductible for an individual for medical insurance in 2021 is $1,500 and $3,000 for a family. This is how much you pay before your insurance will start covering any expenses other than prescriptions in most cases. Primary Care visits can vary in cost depending on location and services included but the basic cost has been surveyed and is at least $185 for a basic return visit in the Puget Sound area but can be as high as $300 or more. Urgent Care visits also vary depending on services provided but can add up quickly: a no frills visit can be between $150 -$200 but can also go up significantly if testing or procedures are involved. A simple laceration repair (stitches) can add several hundred dollars to the bill. Cash-based practices are an alternative to theses costs. Fox Medical Center in University Place WA has Urgent Care and Primary Care visit prices from $130-$150. Let’s do the math – For a $1,500 deductible plan and a Primary Care visit of $200, you will have 7 -1/2 visits for the year before your insurance starts to pay. At Fox Medical Center, if you take an average visit cost of $140, you can have almost 11 visits for the same out of pocket expense. Even if you don’t see the doctor that often, the cost is still less at Fox Medical Center! We have financing options available as well if you don’t have the full amount on the day of your visit. And when you use Fox Medical, your cost is applied to your deductible (we can’t guarantee it but it nearly always works this way). Even if you use our services when your insurance would pay at another provider, it can still usually be reimbursed by your insurance. Consider the cost benefit of our cash-based practice. If you are uninsured, it is clearly a financial advantage to have lower visit costs.
