Dr. Levy is a highly skilled surgeon and podiatrist renowned in the community for providing a superior level of care to his patients at Starrett Podiatry, which he established in 2002. At a young age, Dr. Levy became committed to pursuing a career in podiatry. Through his interactions with a relative in the profession, Dr. Levy saw how rewarding it could be to make a difference in people's lives through podiatric care, especially in a city where extensive walking is often a part of daily life.
In 2000, Dr. Levy graduated from Manhattan's New York College of Podiatric Medicine (NYCPM) in Harlem. Established in 1911, this prestigious institution is the oldest college in the United States devoted to educating and training doctors of podiatric medicine. After earning his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) degree, Dr. Levy continued his training at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in Queens, New York, where he served as a podiatric resident from 2000 through 2001. After completing his year at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, Dr. Levy moved to Norwalk, California to further hone his skills at Coast Plaza Hospital. As part of his one-year surgical residency there, he learned the most advanced techniques in foot surgery, including cutting-edge procedures for bunions, hammertoes, flatfeet, sports injuries, trauma and heel spurs.
Upon completion of his last residency in 2002, Dr. Levy moved back to the East Coast and established his practice in the Brooklyn neighborhood of Starrett City. This milestone achievement marked his commitment to serving the podiatric needs of the New York City community at large. In 2008, Dr. Levy opened a second office in East Harlem, thus making his services more accessible to patients in Manhattan. He continued to grow the practice and by 2012 had moved his East Harlem office into a larger space to accommodate an increasing number of patients. This same year, he also expanded into West Harlem with the opening of a third location there. Today, ensuring a comfortable and convenient experience for all patients remains of utmost priority to Dr. Levy and his team, as evidenced by such services as in-house testing. Digital x-rays, circulation testing and nerve testing are all done right on the premises of Starrett Podiatry. In addition, Dr. Levy is affiliated with Beth Israel Medical Center, Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center and Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center. No matter which location of Starrett Podiatry patients visit, they are greeted by a top-notch team of outstanding physicians and courteous office staff dedicated to serving their podiatric needs .
More than a decade after establishing his practice, Dr. Levy remains deeply committed to offering the best quality of medical care to his patients. As such, he regularly attends professional workshops and seminars which keep him informed of all the newest advancements in the field of podiatry. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Podiatric Surgery, Board Certified in Foot Surgery and a Diplomate of the American Board of Multiple Specialties in Podiatry, Board Certified in Primary Care in Podiatric Medicine and Podiatric Surgery. Dr. Levy is also a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association.
As the principal surgeon at Starrett Podiatry, Dr. Levy handles approximately 300 procedures per year, which run the gamut from simple hammertoe corrections to complex operations such as reconstructive foot surgeries and ankle arthroscopies. Having successfully completed thousands of surgeries, he is adept at handling any type of operation related to podiatric conditions. Whether performing diabetic foot infection surgery, traumatic surgery, elective surgery or any other type of procedure, Dr. Levy takes pride in achieving excellent results. Regardless of medical history or podiatric condition, he is willing to take on the case and work with the patient to achieve a favorable outcome.
Dr. Levy treats every patient with the respect and dignity they deserve, with a down-to-earth demeanor that quickly puts people at ease. In addition to English, he also speaks some Spanish, as he often practices the language both in the office and at home, where he has a bilingual household.
With true dedication to the field of podiatry, Dr. Levy takes great enjoyment in mentoring new doctors. He gives educational lectures at Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center and is an active participant of the resident training programs at Beth Israel Medical Center and Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center.
