We used Dr. Douthit with our children while they were growing up and now we drive from Blue Ridge, TX to Frisco, TX and use him for our grand children. He directs the questions to the patient instead of talking to the parent. He is just an overall awesome doctor and knows what he’s doing. Best in Orthopedic and Sports Medicine.

A native Texan, Bruce Douthit has practiced in the Frisco area since 1992. He is a board certified orthopedic surgeon who received his medical degree from The University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, Texas. He completed his residency at UTHSC as well, and received Sports Medicine fellowship training in San Diego, California, where he served as one of the Team Physicians for the San Diego Chargers. More specifically, after medical school, internship, and a five-year orthopedic surgery residency, Dr. Douthit elected to gain additional training in his chosen sub-specialty, Sports Medicine. While he is an orthopedic surgeon, able to diagnose and treat all diseases and injuries of the musculosketal system, he specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of overuse and traumatic injuries of the knee and shoulder. Dr. Douthit's undergraduate degree is from Baylor University.
He has served as Team Physician for many local high schools. He and his wife, Susan, have three children.

Dr. Douthit was outstanding. He did for me what another Dr. wouldn't do, which was to provide immediate relief of a swollen knee. As far as bedside manner, Dr. Douthit knocked it out the park. While he was seeing me, he had one of his PAs apologize to the folks in the lobby for running behind and offered them a reschedule. Never seen another Dr. do that before. I highly recommend Dr. Douthit. He and his staff are on point.

After listening to the symptoms, he prescribed for immediate xrays. Following the xrays, clearly explained what he could see and continued to test movements to verify his findings. Explained everything clearly and provided a prescription and recommendations for PT.

If you haven’t been to Dr Douthit before, you may misinterpret his approach. I find him extremely knowledgeable, competent, in quick to make accurate assessments. He is very direct and runs a busy practice. Others may misinterpret as impersonal or less bedside manner, but I disagree and feel he is extremely knowledgeable, professional but may lack some of the soft side. When I see him, not looking to get a beer and hang out with a friend, but look for expert insight and advice. He has never disappointed.

Of all the doctors I see, I find Dr Douthit to be the most seasoned and a true patient caring doctor. He is the only doctor who showed interest in discussing my case with my other doctors and to come up with a conclusive plan. He is just amazing !!

I scheduled an appointment for 10 AM thru your site. I Received an email to call the office. I called and explained I had hurt my left knee playing golf. I was told that their were no “Medicare Appointments” available for 6 days. I explained my PCP had recommended this MD and he had seen my wife several times in the past. I called Plano Ortho and Because I was hurt they were able to see me immediately. He really does have a great reputation in this area but I was disappointed in my results!

Great attention and care was taken in when evaluating me. Doctor and staff were attentive and very helpful in helping me get better and evaluating everything that I currently have. Will definitely go back, since this practice seems to look for non-invasive options first, and fixing problems at their root before suggesting something as big as surgery.

Very professional dr and polite. Appointment was very thorough for my problem. Practically no waiting time. Got an appt the next day with no problem. He offered me choices, and considered my feedback for which treatments I wanted to start with. Did xrays on site. Office was easy to find, and parking was close. Entire staff was friendly. I was very nervous, and they put me at ease. My only negative was there is a lot of paperwork, and then they call you to a room and re-ask you the exact same questions. Five stars other than that! I will see him again.

Great experience with Dr. Douhit. He's very knowledgeable, honest, and thorough. He assesses, diagnoses and provides a treatment plan on your first visit. Plus, he doesn't request you to "come back for a follow up" but rather offers to see you if your treatment doesn't go as expected.
Great bedside manner. Personable. Experienced. Honest. These qualities are becoming increasingly rare. Go see Dr. Douhit and see for yourself.
