When Dr. Saltz evaluates a prospective patient he attends to medication requirements, psychological needs and relevant family issues. In his current research initiatives, Dr. Saltz focuses on the use of antipsychotic drugs in a wide range of conditions from schizophrenia to bipolar disorder to Alzheimer's disease. Dr. Saltz has expertise in drug induced movement disorders such as tardive dyskinesia and parkinsonism.
Dr. Saltz frequently speaks to pharmaceutical organizations and medical groups about his research findings. Using a case approach he created a series of videotapes (available on CD-ROM or VHS) that cover indications for prescribing antipsychotic drugs and recognizing (and treating) movement disorders as side effects.
