Dr. Pruitt has been a physician with Eastern Obstetrics and Gynecology since completing residency in 2000. During that time he has participated on several committees at St. Vincent's East hospital including the Medical Executive Committee and Patient Care Committee, and is currently serving on the Ethics and Cancer Committees. He is Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a fellow of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. He and his family have lived in Birmingham since 1992, when they moved here to begin medical school at the University of Alabama School of Medicine at UAB, and he then stayed at UAB for residency training. Prior to his medical training, Dr. Pruitt was an officer in the United States Navy and served as the assistant weapons officer on a submarine out of Charleston, South Carolina. He and his wife, Jan, have been married for twenty-eight years, have four children, reside in Hoover, Alabama and are active in their church and community. In his leisure, he enjoys reading and studying and is working on a PhD in philosophy.
