Dr. Gillespie is a Harvard-trained orthopedic hand, wrist, and elbow surgeon at The Hand and Upper Extremity Center of Georgia. He provides surgical and non-surgical care to patients of all ages with sports-related injuries, traumatic injuries, birth abnormalities, and other conditions affecting the arm, elbow, forearm, wrist, and hand.
Specialized care of infants, children, and, adolescents: Prior to moving to Atlanta, Dr. Gillespie was an Instructor in Orthopedic Surgery at Harvard Medical School and on faculty at Boston Children’s Hospital. His time there gives him the unique experience to correctly recognize and treat injuries and disorders in young patients whose bones and joints are still growing. He now provides highly specialized care in Atlanta for children and adolescents through his affiliation with Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta-Scottish Rite. This includes treating sports injuries, fractures (broken bones), tendon or nerve injuries, and brachial plexus injuries.
Exceptional care of adults: Dr. Gillespie also cares for adults with hand and upper extremity conditions ranging from routine to highly complex. These include sports injuries, traumatic bone/joint/tendon/nerve injuries, and arthritis. Many of these conditions can be treated without surgery, but as a patient, you will receive the best care by being evaluated by a hand surgeon who can develop the correct treatment plan for you.
