Dr. Carol V.R. De Costa
Dr. Carol V.R. De Costa is a graduate of S.U.N.Y. at Buffalo School of Medicine, Columbia University and Medgar Evers College. She received her residency training at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Dr. De Costa is Board Certified and is licensed in the states of New York and Georgia. She is also certified in Medical Acupuncture. Her acupuncture training included clinical practice in Chengdu, China. Her experience after residency includes Associate Directorship of Outpatient Rehabilitation Medicine at Staten Island University Hospital. She entered the challenging arena of private practice in 1998 and is presently the Medical Director of Rehabilitation Medicine And Sports Services, P.C. She is also on the clinical faculty of Mount Sinai Services at Elmhurst and Downstate Medical School. In addition, she teaches Family Practice resident physicians at Brooklyn Hospital. Dr. De Costa's areas of Special interest include Sports Medicine, and treatment of Musculoskeletal and Occupational injuries.
Dr. De Costa's Involvement in the rehabilitation of sports injuries has been varied. She provided medical service to athletes at the Centennial Olympic Games in Atlanta, 1996. In addition, numerous College, High School and Professional athletes have benefited from Dr. De Costa's expertise in treating sports related injuries. For three seasons, she served as team physician for the New York Sharks (a women's Professional football team). She is presently team physician for Medgar Evers College and provides medical coverage during Football games for New York City High Schools. Dr. De Costa participates with the N.Y.C. marathon and serves as a Medical Captain.
