Dr. Alonzo earned her BA in biochemistry at Hamilton College and an MS in physiology and biophysics from Georgetown University. She received her medical degree from Drexel University School of Medicine. Dr. Alonzo began her post graduate education with a surgical internship at the University of Connecticut followed by a two-year general surgical residency at Nassau University Medical Center and she completed her urology residency at New York Medical College.
Dr. Alonzo practices general urology, including stone disease, prostatic diseases, and with a focus on female urology, urinary incontinence, voiding dysfunction, and interstitial cystitis. She performs minimally invasive procedures in the office with local anesthesia and minor levels of discomfort; including cystoscopy, prostate biopsy, and no-scalpel vasectomy.
Dr. Alonzo is facile in performing minimally invasive procedures in the hospital setting for a variety of urological illnesses, notably ambulatory procedures for urinary leakage. Her skills include endoscopy and lithotripsy for stones, procedures for prostate enlargement, and laparoscopic and robotic assisted surgeries.
Dr. Alonzo is board certified by the American Board of Urology, and a member of both the American Urological Association and the Society of Women in Urology. She is active in community education and licensed in both Connecticut and New York State. She was also named one of Connecticut’s Top Docs in 2012.
