Dr. Woods graduated Summa Cum Laude from Bradley University. He attended medical school at the St. Louis University School of Medicine (2016) where he was the inaugural recipient of the Dr. Gerald W. Grawey Scholarship and was awarded the Coe Distinction in Community Service Award.
Dr. Woods completed his Internship in Internal Medicine (2017), his Residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (2020), and his Fellowship in Pain Medicine (2021) all at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester.
During his residency, Dr. Woods published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals, participated in multiple panel presentations at national medical conferences, and was a Mayo Clinic Grand Rounds speaker. He also co-founded and co-directed the not-for-profit organization, Untapped Scholars. As a Mayo Clinic Fellow, Dr. Woods was the co-chair and founding member of the Disparities in Medicine Shared Interest Group for the American Academy of Pain Medicine. He also moderated discussions on healthcare disparities at the AAPM National Conference.
Clinical Interests and Specializations
Dr. Woods is DRG Certified and is skilled in neuromodulation procedures including Spinal Cord Stimulators, Dorsal Root Ganglion Stimulators, and Peripheral Nerve Stimulators. He also embraces Regenerative Medicine procedures such as PRP. Dr. Woods’ treatment philosophy is – “Pain is a dynamic, multifaceted life experience that requires specialized expert care.”
Athletic Activities
Dr. Woods is an avid Basketball fan. While at Bradley University, he played Division 1 Basketball and was a Missouri Valley Conference Scholar athlete. He also played a brief stint of semi-pro basketball during his medical residency.
In his spare time, Dr. Woods enjoys music and movies. He especially enjoys spending time with his growing family.
