Che-Kai Tsao, MD is the Medical Director of the Ruttenberg Treatment Center at the Tisch Cancer Institute, Mount Sinai Hospital. His mission in this role is to lead our multi-disciplinary treatment center in delivering the highest quality of patient centered care to those affected by cancer and blood disorders.
He is an Assistant Professor of Medicine, Hematology and Medical Oncology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and is on staff at the Tisch Cancer Institute of the Mount Sinai Hospital and the Mount Sinai Queens Infusion Center. He received his medical degree from SUNY Downstate Medical Center. He then completed a residency program in internal medicine at Long Island Jewish Medical Center of Albert Einstein College of Medicine followed by a fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at Mount Sinai. There he served as Chief Fellow and was recognized with the 2012 Mount Sinai Physician of the Year, Fellow award.
Dr. Tsao is a board certified in internal medicine, hematology, and medical oncology. He is actively involved in research on the development of novel therapies in the treatment of genitourinary cancers. He is the recipient of several Merit Awards given by the American Society of Clinical Oncology. His main focus is in defining clinical and molecular phenotype of prostate, kidney, and bladder cancers, as well as novel therapies in those disease states.
