Cherie Q. Marfori, MD, FACOG is a gynecologist with The GW Medical Faculty Associates and an assistant professor with The George Washington University School of Medicine & Health Sciences. She specializes in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery (MIGS) and completed GW’s first post-graduate fellowship in MIGS under the tutelage of Dr. James Robinson. She is a team member of The MFA’s Menstrual Disorders Center and The Pelvic Floor Center.
Dr. Marfori enjoys taking care of women with problems across the entire gynecologic spectrum including fibroids, endometriosis, abnormal bleeding, abnormal pap smears, pelvic pain, Asherman’s syndrome, symptomatic menopause and pelvic organ prolapse. She also is proud to be able to offer her patients the availability and expertise of in-office: flexible and rigid hysteroscopy, ultrasound, ESSURE© placement, colposcopy and LEEP procedures in addition to laparoscopic, robotic and hysteroscopic surgeries in the OR setting.
Dr. Marfori has helped pioneer innovative ways to perform procedures as common as hysterectomy and became one of the first Washington-area physicians to perform single-incision laparoscopic hysterectomy. She is also interested in incorporating Robotics into laparoscopic surgery to improve patient outcomes and shorten recovery.
Dr. Marfori was an undergraduate at Wake Forest University and completed her medical degree at The University of Virginia. She went on to complete her OB/GYN residency at The University of Massachusetts and then joined the MFA as an assistant professor of General OB/GYN for three years prior to completing her fellowship in MIGS there. Subsequently, she has rejoined the faculty as a specialist

Why didn't I find her sooner? She is great. During our consultation she really paid attention and thoroughly answered my questions. The wait time was longer than expected but I see why. She is not going to rush through her time with you and that I can appreciate. It felt like I was meeting with a very knowledgeable friend. She gave me the unbiased information I needed to make a decision regarding my health, without promoting her own agenda. Hands down, best I've been too.

Dr. Marfori spoke in clear, straight-forward terms and took the time I desired to answer all my questions. She is the third doctor I have seen for my condition and the first to be open to leaving my decision-making process open based on results of further testing, surgery, and expected recovery. There was no wait time for initial screening, but about 30 minutes to see the doctor. This is as what I consider standard or average and I have no issue with that.
