More about Dr. Cho Mya Mon Win, MD
Dr. Win completed her undergraduate studies in her home country of Myanmar at the Institute of Medicine 1 in 1988. Located in Yangon, the Institute of Medicine 1 is the oldest medical school in Myanmar. Although the school closed from 1988 to 1991 due to national political instability, Dr. Win persevered and completed her medical degree in 1996. During this time, she contributed to an article on lifestyles and health of the elderly that was published in the Institute of Medicine 1 Annual Magazine of 1994.
Following her graduation, Dr. Win completed an internship at Yangon General Hospital. She then worked for over a year as an Assistant Medical Officer at the Nilar Specialist Clinic in Yangon. Dr. Win eventually left Myanmar in 2000, and finished her second year of residency at Dunedin Hospital and HealthCare Otago in Dunedin, New Zealand. From 2000 to 2003, she worked as a Medical Registrar at Waikato Hospital in Hamilton, New Zealand.
In 2003, Dr. Win came to the United States and completed a three year medical residency at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia. Afterwards, she worked as a teaching medical attending physician at Frankford Hospital in Philadelphia. She continued as a practicing physician in Pennsylvania, at BrynMawr Hospital in Bryn Mawr, until 2009 when she relocated to Tampa, Florida to begin a three year cardiology fellowship at the University of South Florida. Dr. Win continued to publish, contributing to an article on a form of stress-induced cardiomyopathy published in the January/February 2011 Congestive Heart Failure.
In June 2012, we were honored to welcome Dr. Win to our exceptional team at Gene E. Myers Cardiac & Vascular Consultants. She brings a strong professional and academic background as well as a unique international perspective.
