Originally from the Midwest, Dr. Christy Kenkel grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She completed her Bachelor of Science at the University of Oklahoma, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Honors College with a degree in Biochemistry. Dr. Kenkel then spent two years working with a neuroscience research team that held a special focus in obstetrics. She is a published author in a study evaluating interactions between neurochemical pathways and pregnancy Dr. Kenkel then pursued her medical training at Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Dr. Kenkel went on to complete her OB/GYN residency at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center, a large community teaching hospital in West Islip, New York. Good Samaritan has a noteworthy reputation for providing extensive training in obstetrics and gynecological surgeries, including advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgery. Dr. Kenkel received the distinctive honor of becoming Chief Resident overseeing medical student education in obstetrics and gynecology.
During college, Dr. Kenkel also played competitive soccer for the NCAA Division 1 women's soccer team and was elected team co-captain her senior year. She was nominated to the Academic All-Big 12 first team three times. While excelling on the soccer field, Dr. Kenkel also excelled academically and was awarded the prestigious honor of gaining membership into the Phi Beta Kappa Academic Honors Society. She also enjoys community service and during medical school, she volunteered with medical outreach groups to provide gynecological services to communities in Memphis, Tennessee and Central America.
Dr. Kenkel is dedicated to women’s care and is excited to build relationships with patients to help guide them to their best health throughout their lives.
