Christopher M. Edens, MD, FAAD, is a board-certified dermatologist. As a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, he has been diagnosing and treating a wide variety of skin conditions since 2013.
Dr. Edens majored in Biology at the United States Air Force Academy, where he was a Distinguished Graduate with academic and military honors. He obtained his medical degree at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland. He completed initial internship training in Family Medicine at David Grant USAF Medical Center at Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield, California followed by serving as a primary care physician at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama in a broad range of capacities including operational medical support to field exercises and a deployment. Returning to his longstanding interest in dermatology, he completed dermatology residency at the San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium, serving as Chief Resident during his final year. He served as a military general dermatologist at Joint Base Langley-Eustis in Hampton, Virginia before returning as faculty at the San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium dermatology residency.
Dr. Edens is active in high-quality patient care and resident education as an Assistant Professor of Dermatology for the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. He previously served as the Medical Director for the Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland Dermatology Department and subsequently as the residency program director during his final two years of military service. He has been selected as the top physician educator twice in 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 by the graduating dermatology residents of the San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium. He has a strong interest in the use of dermoscopy for the early detection of skin cancer, complex medical dermatology, and in the use of functional and lifestyle medicine interventions.

I came from a dermatologist who really treated me poorly when they diagnosed and treated me for melanoma. The nursing staff and Dr Edens were so kind and they treated me so much better and they made me feel really great. Doctor patient communication is very important and often looked over and I'm very glad that your staff doesn't feel that way.

I appreciated the questions and diversity of response options in the patient portal profile. I was seen very quickly after checking in. Dr. Edens explained things thoroughly as we discussed my concerns and throughout the treatment. While I had other concerns to discuss following my more pressing issue, I appreciated the respect for time and encouragement to explore those issues during my follow up to allow for more time and attention.

I like that I finally am seeing a doctor who wanted to test my skin and help me get to the root of my rashes. They are starting me on a healing journey that I've been trying to start for years.
