I went to Dr. Chew for a sinus infection, I have been dealing with a few days. He was friendly and provided the Rx I needed to finally get some relieve from my headaches and congestion. His front office clerks were rude and pushy about payment. How can you be rude to a person who is ill? This is why I checked "Maybe" in the above question.
Nice , friendly , and knowledgeable . I like Dr Chew
My brief experience with Dr. Chew was very pleasant. The office building itself is a little out of date, but don't let that discourage you. His bedside manner was fantastic and he provided a very honest and genuine appraisal of my situation, without the need for unnecessary "up sell" procedures. Hopefully I won't need to have another visit, but if I do I'll be happy to see Dr. Chew again. (Note to Dr: please change your blood pressure measurement procedure, wrist-based while standing in a waiting room doesn't produce reliable results.)
Very thorough. Would recommend.
Dr. Chew was very attentive and informative. I did have a long wait time to be seen (over an hour), but I believe this was due to extenuating circumstances with another patient. Staff at the office were very kind and helpful at explaining pricing according to my insurance plan prior to my arrival. Would highly recommend Dr. Chew and happily return if I have any other ear complications.
I loved that Dr. Chew gave me some different options for my ear problem. I felt heard & understood.
Sharp and thorough.
Surprised at how fast I got in today. Almost immediate. Great doc, always knowledgeable and patient
My ears were clogged and Dr. Chew fixed me immediately. Very happy with the service. One thing I would like to see improved is the blood pressure procedure. They use a wrist cuff, which has been proven to be quite inaccurate and it was taken at the window while I was standing. Not appropriate.
Really poor waiting room experience. They take your blood pressure on a shared device in the middle of the lobby? What doctor's office does that? Poor office conditions in general at the Clay St. location - know what you're getting into. Dr. Chew is great, the office not so much.
He's great! He was on time and he was very honest and nice and seemed like he cared more about my ailment than making money. I wanted to get a procedure done but he insisted for me to take some meds first and see how I feel before jumping into anything which I liked. His staff is great too! I paid out of pocket $200 and it was worth it
He's the best!
Office was not great, lots of people in a small area, had an odor. Nurses were hard to understand. Doctor was great.
Quick, efficient and I can hear again! Booked an appointment last minute and got in and out he door hassle free!
Although the waiting room was full when I arrived, the wait was surprisingly short. Dr. Chew was very nice and straightforward with his diagnosis and treatment options, which I appreciated. I will definitely go back to him next time I need to!
This was a terrible doctor's office experience. I was the first or second appointment of the day, yet, Dr. Chew was an hour late and I nearly missed my day of work. Then they said my health insurance might not be accepted when I had called prior to coming in to insure that it was accepted. Finally, Dr. Chew was a very nice person but did not seem to give me thorough care to the point that I had to recommend two different tests that I thought would be effective. He ran the tests and told me the office would call back if they got positive results. They never called me back until I called their office to inquire and was told that, yes, the results were positive. A very frustrating experience overall.
Dr. Chu has been my ENT for 5 years. He is very professional and knowledgeable. And he always takes the time to answer my questions. I highly recommend him.
So thorough. Even drew things put for me on paper. Awesome experience.
He was good. To the point, friendly, professional.
He was pleasant, competent, and addressed my concerns directly. His staff was polite and efficient.
The doc was late.
Most excellent! Given my dire circumstances; he responded to my phone call immediately. Went out of his way to see me as soon as possible.
Great. Very helpful.
The wait time was longer than I expected. Otherwise, everything else was good.
I felt very confident with his knowledge and professionalism...
It may seem like the office is full of old Chinese people. That's because it is. But rest assured, the doctor and his office speak english and, despite a wait in a rather sad room, all was addressed.
I've been seeing Dr. Chu for about 5 years and highly recommend him. He's very knowledgeable and listens to his patients.
I have been seeing Dr. Chew for chronic ear issues for about 3 years. I think he is an exceptional doctor.
Took his time, which I find lacking in many of these big city doctors. Thank you, Dr. Chew!
I wouldn't recommend this office. I woke up with severe tonsillitis and a fever, so I booked an appointment with Dr. Chew on ZocDoc. The facility in Chinatown is not very nice, with a crowded waiting room. I asked if he could take my temperature but he didn't have a thermometer in the office. What kind of ENT doesn't have a thermometer?? Then he didn't take a throat culture to ascertain whether the tonsillitis was being caused by virus or bacteria, but decided to inject me into the shoulder with antibiotics straight away. The injection was literally the most painful burning I've ever ever felt - and it wouldn't stop. I finally started to go into shock as everything went numb and tingly and I started to become nauseous and light headed. While it passed after 10-15 minutes, anything that could hurt that much should have been numbed up with some local anesthetic, which he also didn't have. While Dr. Chew is a nice person and compassionate, this isn't modern medicine and I wouldn't come back here or recommend it to others.
Staff could have been a bit more courteous. Wait time was a little much, but all in all, it wasn't terrible.
Quick and to the point. Answered all of my possibly silly questions with aplomb and respect.
The doctor was wonderful, he was really nice and gentle and helped me to solve my problem. The 2 girls in the waiting room were not so nice... And the waiting time was long. With all that saying the doctor was great so I recommend to come see him.
Very knowledgeable and nice person
Good in hearing out patient's concern.
Lets hope that the meds he proved prescribed cures my throat pain.
I liked him. It was my fault I had to wait because I showed up late - but everyone was gracious about it and treated me very well. I would feel comfortable with him doing any procedure on me that I needed.
good. i felt seen and heard.
Dr. Clifford Chew had very little time between my booking an appointment and seeing me, but he arrived with my notes I left online in my hand, and he was able to talk about it. He took the time to explain everything to me very clearly and educated me as well as treating me. I really appreciated the time he spent explaining things to me, because the office was really busy.. He wrote down all the information I requested, and considered extra information I had to give him.I felt it was a very productive visit, and I left feeling that I finally understood my health problem and what to do about it.
Very professional and eased my inner ear pain. I will definitely return, even though parking is expensive.
Great doctor! Glad to have him as my ear doctor.
He is kind and respectful.
He's a nice guy and more respectful. I extremely recommend to see him if you have problem in your ears, nose & throat.
The wait time was an issue. I anticipated wait time and reached earlier but yet I had to wait beyond my appointment time for arnd 20 mins.
Great staff and doctor
Dr. Chew really listened to what I was experiencing and addressed my concerns. I highly recommend him.
Awful experience here the reception isn't friends and doesn't speak English well. They made me pay up front and didn't use my insurance it ruined my day.
Very diligent exam, had good bedside manner, described the problem well, did not appear to be in a rush
Great bedside manner and he sympathetic to my pain. He's a great guy and I recommend him.
A competent young professional. Office location very inconvenient in Chinatown, but liked him so much would see again when needed.
Very professional and personable. Didn't seem rushed and seemed very knowledgable.
Friendly, nice and thorough visit. Dr. Chew seemed to be really listening; he answered all of my questions in a patient manner. The front desk staff were very polite and helpful as well. Thanks!
The wait time was long because I had a new insurance that they needed to call to confirm benefits (wait time was due to the insurance company). The staff took time to explain my coverage and costs to me, and they were pleasant to work with.
It was great, except they did not take credit cards, which h was not specified until I got there.
Very kind and personable. Took the time to try to understand my symptoms. I would highly recommend him. Just as a note: My waiting time was ~45 mins so plan accordingly :)
The girls in the front desk were very nice and helpful, the doctor was very nice and gave me total attention. Very professional. I will sure recommend him to everyone that needs a specialist.
Fantastic doctor. I was away on vacation in San Francisco and ended up with a sinus infection just one day into my trip- not being from the west coast, I had no idea who to go to. Thanks to ZocDoc, I found and visited Dr. Chew, and he was able to get me up and running again and enjoying my vacation in absolutely no time. Excellent availability and overall great experience! Highly recommended.
This is my 2nd time seeing Dr. Chew- he's great. Really knowledgeable. He even gave me a great lunch recommendation. His staff is really fast too, most efficient Dr. Office I've ever been to!
Dr Chew was super clear in his communication and assessment. He listened to my concerns very well. And helped solve the problem very quickly. Highly recommended.
He was an good doctor, but I have a different opinion for his receptionists. They were too noisy about my sex when it shouldn't matter regardless of my voice didn't match my bio sex. I know clinic in Chinatown are normally not open minded on theses kind of thing, but at least it was semi affordable.
Dr.Chew was very kind and let me knew every problems that I have.
You can feel his humaness when he walks into the room
Good memory among so many patients.
Dr Chew was very patient, kind, and helpful.
Attentive and thoughtful physician.
Asked a lot of questions about my condition and was really helpfull.
Easy, stnadard procedure.
Dr. Chew was very professional and knowledgeable. He took his time to inquire about my ailment and treat me. I've been to 2 or 3 other ENT doctors and out of all of them, I believe Dr. Chew has treated me the best. I would definitely recommend him to others and would not hesitate to see him again for treatment.
Smart, wise ... great doc!
Dr.Chew is a wonderful Physician. I am glad I met him and his staff. He took care of my problem right away. I will be seeing again on Wednesday Oct.the 12th. He is now a blessing in my life. Thank you Dr. Chew Rebecca Godson
Very happy that I found Dr. Chew.
The office wait time was long, even though it wasn't crowded, but for the convenience of making an appointment same day or next day, I let it slide. The office I went to is in the heart of china town and isn't particularly clean and all of the equipment seems very old. However, Clifford was very nice, easy to talk to and able to answer my questions. Basically, I would recommend Dr. Chew. The office on Clay Street, not so much.
Good doctor, less painful ear wax cleaning ever!
Dr. Chew was very courteous and professional. Plus, booking with Zocdoc was very easy. The only downside was the 30 minute wait -- despite making an appointment for 930am (when his office opened its doors) I wasn't able to see Dr. Chew until 10am.
Doctor Chew is a very compassionate and caring individual period.
