Courtney Pollard, III, MD, PhD is a board certified radiation oncologist at Peachtree Radiation Oncology Services that grew up in Lithia Springs, GA. He received a Bachelor of Science in Biology (Magna Cum Laude) from Morehouse College, where he was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa.
He received his medical doctorate as well as his philosophical doctorate in molecular physiology and biological physics from the The University of Virginia. Upon graduating from medical school, Dr. Pollard completed a preliminary medicine internship at Harbor Hospital in Baltimore, MD. He then completed residency training in radiation oncology at the world-renowned MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas - the #1 ranked cancer center in the country by US News and World Report. Dr. Pollard published multiple manuscripts in residency related to clinical outcomes in the treatment of head and neck cancer with a special focus on reirradiation of recurrent head and neck malignancies.
In addition, Dr. Pollard is an author in the leading Radiation Oncology review books “Radiation Oncology - A Question-Based Review” and “Pocket Radiation Oncology.”
Dr. Pollard has trained with experts in all aspects of radiation oncology. He treats a wide range of cancers and is proficient in the latest radiotherapy techniques, including intensity-modulated radiation therapy, volumetric modulated arc therapy, interstitial and intracavitary brachytherapy, stereotactic radiosurgery, and stereotactic body radiation therapy. Dr. Pollard is devoted to patient-centered, multidisciplinary, evidence-based cancer care.
