To practice Family Medicine with a broad approach; healing that goes beyond the curing of illness to one of achieving wellness by primary prevention. To develop a solid practice using quality measurements, such as 100% goal for mammograms, DEXA scans, screening colonoscopies, etc.; to anticipate possible poor outcomes by identification and treatment of high-risk population, along with accomplishing excellence in the practice of medicine by devoting time and knowledge with compassion, ethics, and professionalism.
After 17 years of experience as a general practitioner in Colombia, a desire of fulfilling a long-held dream blossomed, which was to deepen my knowledge of Family Medicine and Sports Medicine. This inspired me to make a drastic change in my career and to pursue Family Medicine training in the US.
My experience as a physician since 1983 in Colombia and 2003 in the US has allowed me to do what I love which is to help people learn and regain awareness regarding healing and wellness. I have been honored to touch patients’ lives in many ways. I am a five-year honoree of the Patients’ Choice Award since 2008 and the Compassionate Doctor Recognition since 2011.
I have worked on comprehensive approaches as well developing a successful weight loss program and treating chronic conditions using holistic modalities such as reducing lipids in statin-intolerant patients with diet, exercise, and supplements. I enjoy treating patients with injuries using joint/tendon injections, deep nerve blocks, and trigger point injections.
Despite my prior experience in medicine, there is still much more to learn, and that knowledge is humbling for me.
