Starting out in Electrical Engineering and Biomedical devices, she then turned to medicine and medical research, gaining her MD and PhD in Cellular and Molecular Pathology as part of the Medical Scientist Training Program. After residencies in Internal Medicine and Emergency Medicine, she has been practicing Emergency Medicine for 20 yrs, and hospitalist medicine for 7 years. Fascinated by patients with complex medical problems that were difficult to manage by conventional medicine alone, she became certified in Functional Medicine and is currently undergoing training for board certifications in Anti-Aging Medicine and in Obesity Medicine. Dr. Gerard has a Functional Medicine practice in North-Eastern Wyoming, where she resides with her husband. She loves animals, and enjoys the company of 6 dogs, 2 cats, a horse and a mini-donkey. She loves traveling, reading, healthy cooking, and walking with friends.
