Dr. Sommer was very kind and attentive. He tried to make my first visit as comfortable as possible. He even asked me what type of contacts I had before and was comfortable with so that I wouldn't have to change into a different brand. Overall good visit.

My visit with the doctor went very well. He was able to fit me for contacts and he thoroughly explained the use of the contacts and how to care for them in my eyes. The doctor was very nice.

Dr. Darry G. Sommer received his Doctor of Optometry degree With Distinction from Indiana University in 1980. He has over 30 years of experience caring for patients of all ages with a wide variety of visual and medical conditions. Dr. Sommer specializes in contacts lenses and utilizes the latest technology to fit patients including those with astigmatism and the need for bifocal and specialty correction. He treats eye infections, dry eyes, eye allergies as well as glaucoma.
Cataract evaluation and a thorough knowledge of state of the art techniques for corrective surgery is one of his specialties. He also is able to determine your candidacy for Laser Vision Correction – Lasik.
Dr. Sommer has participated in the “Gift of Sight” charitable organization on both a local and international level, including spending 2 weeks in El Salvador providing eye care to many needy recipients. He was featured on WGN-TV Health Beat news segment regarding the importance of routine eye examinations. This was a result of Dr. Sommer detecting a brain tumor during an eye examination which saved the patient’s life.
As an integral part of our practice he will continue to provide the highest quality of personalized and compassionate care, recognizing that every patient is a unique individual. His addition to our practice augments our basic philosophy of eye care. In his spare time, Dr. Sommer enjoys traveling, cooking, tennis and spending time with his family.

The optical department has a fantastic selection and they make all the eyeglasses right there. The doctor and the entire staff were to accommodating and friendly.
