As a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation physician, Dr. Berkower provides a full spectrum of nonsurgical care (interventional pain, physical rehabilitation and medical management) to restore maximum health and quality of life. Dr. Berkower has been in private practice since 2004. Dr. Berkower is active in teaching and serves as an Assistant Professor of Rehabilitation Medicine at the University of Miami School of Medicine. Dr. Berkower has also published papers on spine related topics in the American Journal of Pain Medicine and in the journal Spine. Dr. Berkower earned his undergraduate degree at Wayne State University. His degree in osteopathic medicine was from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences. He did his residency training at Wayne State University where he served as chief resident. Dr. Berkower completed his Pain Medicine Fellowship at the Medical College of Virginia/Virginia Commonwealth University. He is board certified in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation with a Subspecialty certification in Pain Medicine.
Dr Berkower's office is conveniently located in the former TD Bank building, less than a mile from Memorial Hospital West, just west of Flamingo and off of Pines Blvd. It is also a stop on the Century Village Trolley route.

Dr. Berkower was great - very knowledgeable, professional, friendly. He took all the time needed , (quite a bit), to ask about & understand fully my issues and my extensive history. He loaded & went over with me in detail an MRI that I supplied, showing & explaining exactly what my issues were in detail, (with a lot of insight NOT noted on the MRI report or discussed with me by the provider that ordered it). Not rushed AT ALL, (like most docs who schedule at least 6 patients for every time slot). I was treated with an injection on the spot, & have an appointment for another procedure, ( has to be 3 weeks after the treatment I received), given an order for PT, & a prescription for something to hopefully help. Office staff was great, offices & waiting room very nice. I would absolutely recommend Dr. Berkower:)

Dr Berkower is a nice guy. He was very knowledgeable about everything. He also gave options that were passive and aggressive so I could choose what I would like treatment wise. The front desk girl tries to get you in with everything that you need very quickly; so does the checkout girl. However, the wait time is atrocious. I was in more pain waiting because I had to sit there for so long, so my back pain got worse. It is very boring what they have on the TV there. I also noticed that the majority of the patients were older people. He is obviously very busy because he has a good amount of patients to be seen, so he's popular. But the wait time needs to be spread out more. I was really happy to get an appointment, but maybe they should spread out the appointments so you're not waiting too long.

I really like the service and the staff. They were all so polite friendly and kind. I would definitely recommend to others who are desperately looking for a doctor specialist or physician that can help with their health condition or problem they are facing. The doctor and the assistant doctor were nice, and had great manners. Great communication, good service and were attentive and were helpful.

The wait time was unbearable. Close to three hours of waiting. If it weren't because I was in pain and had paid my copay I would have left. should have gone to urgent care.

The staff was friendly. The Dr was excellent. He listened to me and took his time to go over my history and hear my issues. The wait time was long because I made my appointment last minute and was fit in.
