Dr. Kalkstein has extensive experience and knowledge treating patients experiencing severe depression resistant to treatment. To achieve successful outcomes, he integrates various techniques based on an intimate understanding of basic brain functioning. He combines TMS Magnetic Stimulation Therapy, innovative use of medication, and psychological treatments that enhance each other in an intensive recovery process.
Dr. Kalkstein has directed innovative intensive outpatient programs for complicated severe depression. As a PhD scientist, psychiatrist, and internist, he has found that his clinical practice and brain research are highly complementary, leading to a unified treatment philosophy.
He earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Miami and completed residencies in Psychiatry and Internal Medicine at Drexel University's Hahnemann University Hospital. Additionally, he holds a PhD in Quantum Physics from the University of Pennsylvania.

I liked Dr. K when he showed up to my first appointment. He never showed up to my second booking and I waited for a half hour. When I tried to get in touch over the phone, he texted me a few days later to call him the next evening to reschedule but he never picked up and never returned the call.

Waited an hour and a half after my scheduled appointment time. Didn’t listen nor did he seem to care that I was really struggling with my depression, told me to contact him if the medication wasn’t working and I did yet he never responded. Also sent the wrong medication to be filled. If you’re trying to find the right medication and need a doctor that will listen to you don’t chose this doctor.

We did a video visit. Dr. connected on time. My only negative is that I made the appointment on ZocDoc on 9/29. Received an email telling me the appointment was pending. When I did not receive a confirmation, I called the doctor's office. Voicemail was full. Called again a day or two later and received the same message.
It wasn't until the day of the appointment that I received confirmation.
While this was very frustrating, I will say that the video visit did go well.
