Wow! This was the most helpful experience that I've had in years! Dr. Riojas and his amazing staff treated me with respect and care. They were more than competent. The doctor evaluated me thoroughly and the results of my examination will help me get treated accurately and more in depth by the specialist he referred me to. They accepted my insurance which not everyone does.

Dr. Riojas is a therapeutic optometrist at Mann Eye Institute who sees patients in our Pearland office. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from The University of Texas at Austin and his Doctorate of Optometry degree from The University of Houston. He received his externship training in Oklahoma, where he diagnosed and treated various eye conditions for the Cherokee Native Indian communities. He received additional training at the VA Medical Clinic in San Antonio, where he helped veterans with macular degeneration, glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy. He also dedicated one day a week at the VA hospital to help veterans suffering from traumatic brain injuries causing double vision, light sensitivity, and vision loss.
Throughout his career, Dr. Riojas has helped patients ranging from children to the senior population. Additionally, he is experienced in fitting specialty contact lenses, including rigid gas permeable (RGPs) and scleral lenses. Dr. Riojas has also worked closely with several glaucoma surgeons, where he specialized in diagnosing and treating patients with various types of glaucoma.
Furthering his experience, he has also worked with endocrinologists and rheumatologists, helping patients with diabetes and thyroid eye disease, as well as patients with ocular complications due to rheumatological conditions such as severe dry eye, uveitis, and Plaquenil toxicity.
Dr. Riojas is committed to giving back to the community by participating in the Houston Health Department’s “See to Succeed” program. See to Succeed was established to provide free eye exams and glasses to underserved school children. He also served on several mission trips to Mexico, where he helped to restore and provide vision care to the indigenous population.
When Dr. Riojas is not at the office, he enjoys working on home projects, watching and attending local sports events, and cooking.
