About Dr. David Sausner

After graduating from The New England College of Optometry in 1986, and as a raised Massapequan, Dr. David Sausner returned to his hometown to join the family practice. Seeing the changes occurring in optometry he seized the opportunity to advance the practice into a medical optometric model. Dr. Sausner updated the office and continued his education, ultimately receiving licensure for the highest level of optometric medical practice in New York; allowing him to diagnose and treat ocular disease with topical medications. Dr. Sausner was invited to become a laser correction affiliate when laser correction was introduced in 1994 and co-manages both laser correction and cataract surgery. Dr Sausner also has special interests in dry eye diagnosis and treatment and complicated contact lens fittings. His expertise in challenging contact lens fittings has resulted in his participation as a key opinion leader for contact lens manufacturers. Dr. Sausner has been involved with a local optometric society and has served as a leader on their executive board. While the practice continues to expand on the medical side, Dr. David has not forgotten his roots in optometry and can often be seen helping in the office's designer optical boutique. In his free time Dr. Sausner enjoys time with his family as well as the waters of the south shore and local golf courses.
