More about Dr. David Stone, MD
Dr. Stone is a board certified Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation doctor specializing in sports medicine, interventional spine procedures and general pain management. He graduated from medical school at the University of Virginia in 2009, where he was honored as the Bowman Scholar (given to the top medical student during clinical rotations, voted on by school faculty and attending physicians). After completion of his intern medical year, he moved to Denver, Colorado where he completed his residency training in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. After his time in Colorado, he moved once again to Arizona in the summer of 2013 to train under the supervision of the physicians at Southwest Spine & Sports for a one year fellowship position. He joined the group at AZ Spine Disc and Sport in September 2014 as the medical director for the facility.
During his undergraduate years at the University of Virginia, Dr. Stone was a 4 year starter for the varsity baseball team (UVA was 2014 College World Series runner up). He still owns multiple career records at UVA including most games played (2nd all time), at bats (4th all time), runs scored (6th all time), hits (2nd all time), stolen bases (1st all time) and walks (1st all time). He was drafted in the 2002 Major League Baseball draft by the San Francisco Giants. His professional career was cut short by a series of arm injuries, from which he was unable to successfully rehab. Due to repeated injury, he decided to retire from his baseball career and started the process of applying to medical school.

Dr. Stone is a virtual wizard when it comes to pain relief. Believe me, he knows his stuff! I've suffered from escalating arthritic back pain for more than 30 years as a complication of a spinal fusion early in my life. I'm currently enjoying a nearly pain-free life for the first time in decades! You can't go wrong with Dr. Stone; he'll take excellent care of you.

Dr Stone is the best ! I went for a second opinion on my lower back after a different doctor told me I had to get an epidural and stop riding horses which is my passion . Dr Stone was so optimistic and did not suggest any invasive procedures and enrolled me in physical therapy. He said I could continue my sport after I am healed. He also thoroughly explained what my issue was and I understood why my body is acting this way. Highly recommend him.

Dr. Stone really goes above and beyond! One of the most caring doctors I've met in a long time! This is my second time seeing Dr. Stone and I'm beyond impressed by his bedside manner and how knowledgeable he is. He really takes the time to listen to you, your past medical history, and will even work with your other doctors to give you the best care possible. He offers advice to each and every one of your problems, and really goes out of his way to make sure that you are well taken care of. I will continue to see this doctor for a very long time, 5 stars all the way!!

This was the best experience I have had at a doctor visit in a very long time. Dr. Stone was professional, listened to my concerns, spent a significant amount of time with me, described all of my treatment options and made his recommendations. His office staff was also pleasant and helpful. I made a follow-up appointment and left feeling hopeful.

I would recommend this doctor to anyone and everyone. The office is very nice and everyone was very pleasant. Doctor David Stone M.D is absolutely wonderful. He really sits down and listens to you so you can really explain to him how your feeling and any concerns that you might have. He is really personable when he is speaking to you and tells you all the information about everything that I couldn't even think of any questions. Very pleased with this office and doctor. Five stars across the board!
