I can’t overstate the impact Dr. Ekin has had on my life and that of my family. During the 3 years I was a patient, Dr. Ekin helped resolve many issues. She wrapped up every session with guidance for positive movement forward, and a larger perspective. I can honestly say that I never left her office without feeling better.
Toward the end of my time working with Dr. Ekin, my daughter joined my husband and I for family sessions. We were all able to see dynamics with positive results. I am a seasoned psychologist with extensive experience in helping children, adolescents, adults, as well as couples and families. I have been described as warm, supportive and straightforward. In my work, I use a collaborative, strengths-based and relational approach. I was trained at Columbia University, New York University and the Ackerman Institute for the Family. I have a specialty in addictive disorders and work both at the individual level as well as helping families work together to resolve associated challenges. My work starts with the belief that with greater awareness comes the motivation to alter self-defeating patterns. Depending the assessment of your history and goals, I am comfortable with both the harm-reduction approach and the abstinence-based approach.
I have also helped clients with broader concerns of losing a loved one, reconsidering careers or chronic health concerns. I conduct psychological assessments for immigration, parenting arrangements and career counseling. I believe that growth and change is possible through therapy.
