Donald Haupt M.D. is a psychiatrist who treats adults, specializing in the outpatient treatment of Mood Disorders (Depression, Bipolar Disorder), Anxiety Disorders such as OCD, Panic Disorder, and Generalized Anxiety Disorder, and the diagnosis and treatment of adults (18 and over) with ADHD. He has extensive experience with Adult ADHD, having treated it for over 20 years, and is co-author (with Eileen Bailey) of The Complete Idiot's Guide to Adult ADHD, published in 2010 by Alpha/Penguin. Dr. Haupt has a wide range of experience in both psychotherapy and psychopharmacology and uses a collaborative treatment model in which patient input is both welcomed and encouraged and offers outpatient treatment only.

Great doctor! Dr. Haupt is very understanding and helpful. He is very personable and often uses his own life experiences to provide advice that is genuine and easy to relate to. The appointments feel more like a visit with an uncle or relative than an actual doctor appointment. I highly recommend him.

I wish I found Dr. Haupt years ago! If you're looking for an extremely knowledgeable and understanding psychiatrist who also specializes in the treatment of ADHD, then I highly recommend seeing him! I wish I had known about him several years ago, before I spent years of frustration seeing numerous other general psychiatrists who misdiagnosed and mistreated me.

My experience with Dr. Haupt was exceptional! Not only was he understanding, but I also left with a stronger understanding of what ADD is and how I can manage it.

He's very personable and knowledgeable, very happy to explain treatment in great detail. He has a strong understanding of adult ADHD, and I felt he was willing to work aggressively to control symptoms - I walked out of the session with the feeling that progress would be made.

Dr. Haupt didn't hesitate to take the time to listen to me, to thoughtfully answer my questions, and answer questions I didn't know I had. He's very personable, easy to talk to, and funny. He conveyed a deep empathy to what it's like to live with a lifetime of undiagnosed ADHD.
The insights Dr. Haupt shared reflect a candor and acceptance of ADHD, which I think can only come from someone who has also "been there, done that." Working with a physician who has the same condition I have is invaluable. Dr. Haupt is an inspiring, effective, and gentle practitioner.
I highly recommend contacting Dr. Haupt for Adult ADHD. Meantime, you may want to read the book, Adult ADHD, which he co-authored with Eileen Bailey.
